Upcoming: Season 4 in Review

Now that we’ve had a month to fully process the wild ride that was Season 4 of “LOST,” Jen and I plan to return for a wrap-up edition of “The Transmission.” From “The Beginning of the End” to “There’s No Place Like Home,” how does Season 4 stand among the rest? We’d love to hear your take. What were the low points and high points? The biggest twists? The smallest details? What questions loom the largest for the two seasons that lie ahead, and what answers do you think will ultimately be delivered? Comment below, or call the LostLine at (808) 356-0127!

Ahead in the hiatus, we’ll definitely be reporting on and from ComicCon, and hopefully putting together a mix of “LOST” reports, from revisiting past seasons to dissecting a character or two. Of course, “LOST” production resumes in August, so stay tuned for some early reports from The Island!

And maybe, just maybe, you might be able to squeeze in an actual HawaiiUP show? Hmm?

  2. Bill A. in Moorestown, NJ says:

I am with NemesisVex… I would LOVE just one more HawaiiUP some day. Pretty please with sugar on top??

  3. Krisp212 says:

Yes…I vote for more HawaiiUP too! I believe it’s been over a year now since the last episode, but I’ve stayed subscribed….just wishing and waiting for more HawaiiUP goodness.

Didn’t know where else to post this…so here goes. Dark UFO’s site is hosting a Lost Fantasy league for Season 5. You can get all the details at http://www.darkufo.blogspot.com, but BRIEFLY it works just like a fantasy sports league: You pick characters from the show and get points added or subtracted depending on those characters’ actions. For example, characters get 5 points just for showing up in an episode, but get points deducted if they get injured. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO KEEP TRACK OF YOUR OWN POINTS! Dark UFO does it for you and posts the results every week. Yay!

I played last year and it was a lot of fun. This year groups can form teams and play for a particular fansite. The Transmission has five people on its team (don’t know if Ryan or Jen are on it or aware of it) but it needs at least ten to be counted as a full fledged competing team. So check it out and see if you would like to play with us!

Thanks for the heads up, Connie! Adding a blog post now.

So far, no comments about “LOST” and three pleas for a HawaiiUP. Back to the drawing board!

Yay! That sounds great, a season overview and any predictions on un-answered questions (or even what questions were raised) would be excelent! Looking forwards to hearing what’s unveilded at comic-con . .more videos from the hatch? or mobisodes?

    Hey Ryan & Jen,

I just wanted to say that I love your Podcast. I’ve only discovered you guys recently during the latter part of Season 4 and have caught up with all your podcasts since you came back this season.

For me, I really enjoyed Season Four, for me it ranks right behind Season 1 as my favorite. It may have been because the writers strike caused it to be compact and much more info/action packed; or maybe because we have a definitive end date, but there seemed to be much less “filler” this season.

For me the high points included Desmond’s Time traveling in The Constant and especially the ending of the episode. That is only the second time watching LOST has made me cry, right along with seeing Jin & Sun say goodbye to each other in Exodus from Season One. Another high obviously was seeing the Desmond & Penny reunion. Seeing Charlie & Hurley together one last time (?) was great. And lastly, seeing Sawyer complete his transition from Redneck Tough Guy in previous seasons into someone who puts others before himself was just awesome.

Low points? Well, as someone who’s gone from disliking Jin at the start of Season One, let me just say that seeing Jin’s tombstone & his supposed demise in the Season ender isn’t making me happy. I’m holding out hope that like at the start of Season 2, Jin is really alive although a little wet from being in the water.

Biggest twists? Desmond time travelling, Locke in the coffin as Bentham, Carl, Danielle, & Alex meeting their ends at the hands of Kimy & Co.

What questions loom? What happened after the O6 left? Where was the island moved to? What overall ties do all our losties have with the island? Who is Jacob? The more I think about it, I’m thinking the biggest question is whether or not all our questions will be answered. Or will Darleton have to start training Joop the Orangutan to start talking in our to have the “Joop Answers All Our LOST Questions Special Episode”?

Love the podcast Ryan & Jen. Can’t wait to hear the wrap-up as well as your contributiong to The Jay & Jack Show. Keep it up, and don’t be strangers during this long hiatus.

Great news, look forward to a season 4 wrap up from you! There are so many questions, but one perhaps minor question for me as been; “How did Naomi get to the Island?” She says her helicopter crashed, but we all know there was only one heli in “Meet Kevin Johnson”. Also, the Losties heard a heli and saw something drop into the water. Maybe someone else has been on the Island since she crashed. Maybe she just parachuted in and lied about the heli. It’s the one question that I think has been covered least. Can’t wait for the show.

Just wanted to give you guys a heads up.

The US iTunes Store has a “LOST Book Club” link on their mainpage right now (July 1st 824am EDT). It has audiobooks “Referenced in Dialogue” & “Seen in Background”. There’s even a nice note from Darleton on there as well.

    Here’s the Link:

Can’t wait to hear from you guys again. I have been re-watching season one with a few others on the ABC forums and it’s been a blast. We’ve especially enjoyed realizing how our original perceptions of each character have evolved over time and how that changes how we interpret some of their earlier actions this time around. My head is too full of season 1 to think of anything to ask about season 4 but I’ll come back if I do. I see that you posted about this over a week ago so I don’t know how much time I have to post. Regardless, I’ll definitely be listening.

One requests though. This is in case you are not ready to announce the topic of your next podcast at the end of this one coming up. Is there any way that you could record a short podcast (a couple of minutes) and send it over the feed when you have picked a topic? That way there will be a little more time to come up with questions and comments.

Thanks guys and good luck with the Fantasy League.

  14. Kevin says:

Glad to hear there’s a new podcast on the way! Hope it’s soon 🙂

Have a great summer you guys.

  15. Nels says:

Just something to talk about for a new episode of The Transmission:

A group of fans started a site for Unofficial Lost figures, much in the vein of the McFarlane action figures (which were discontinued before the series 3 set was slated to be released). The site is http://z11.invisionfree.com/LOST_Unofficial/

They found a sculptor who is continuing with custom figures now. The first unofficial series is Juliet and Daniel. They should be out (and in very limited quantity) a little later this year. The second unofficial series is going to be Desmond and Ben.

If you’ve purchased the McFarlane figures and were disappointed that they stopped making any more, you may want to check out the grass roots community that is growing at the unofficial figures site and might be a worthy topic, even for just a few minutes of mention, for a future podcast.

See you guys at SDCC next week!
