HiUP #32 – Back from the Big Island

After a two week hiatus, I’m back, stuffed with turkey and still daydreaming about Hilo. Matters of free speech, expression, and advertising permeate the news, served with a dash of stats. Jen and I share our favorite Big Island spots, and two great songs are on the menu: slick tropical pop and sweet, solo acoustic guitar.

In this show:

  • 01:53 HawaiiUP Menu
  • 02:20 HawaiiUP Headlines
  • 16:40 “Hawaiian Rain” from Coconut Joe by Coconut Joe
  • 21:56 Pith of Pop: The Podcast Edition
    Top Five Big Island Spots
  • 34:50 “Those Were the Times” from In My Bedroom by Kristen Nakasone

    Hi,

I am listening to your podcast for a while now, because I have planned a trip to Hawaii in march 2006 (Oahu, Maui and The Big Island).
Your podcast gets me in the mood and at the same time, tells me a lot about Hawaii.
I have noted everything from your podcast about The Big Island, and I hope to see the top 5 and the rest when I am there.
So, keep up the good work. I am enjoying it very much.
And since you are the expert, do you reccommend any place to stay on the Islands?

    Friendly Regards,

    Karin from the Netherlands, Europe
