  1. Ryan says:

Things that we neglected to mention on the podcast, but remembered as soon as it was uploaded:

    1. We loved that Frank Lapidus gave a Jack-esque “we need to stick together” speech to the Ajira Airlines survivors… just before he ditched everyone to follow Sun.

    2. The smoke in the Dharma processing center as the door blew open was great. But the woman in the darkness some spotted behind Sun? Our vote is “production error.” A pretty bad one, but… they’ve messed up their 16:9 frames before.

    3. Hurley’s line about missing Sawyer’s nickname was sweet. But his other lines, like, “Uh, what?” and “Nama-what?” seemed a bit flat. He deserves better from the writers.

  2. Steven in Bathurst says:

Thanks again for the podcast. I think they are fantastic. However, I can’t buy the idea that the woman behind Sun was a production error. I know these things can happen but the woman was clearly deliberate. In a scene with Christian, the door blows open, smoke enters the room and a moment later a woman is standing in the shadows in the background. I’d bet this IBM laptop computer that I am typing on that that woman was Claire. Probably not Emilie de Ravin but a woman standing in for Claire. It was quite deliberate, just as the differences between the photo as it was taken and the photo that Christian shows Sun also contained deliberate differences. The writers are making us notice something secret or mysterious (and perhaps even untrustworthy) about Christian. Like everyone else though, I’m just not sure what.

  3. Jono says:

What a great podcast this week. Thank you so much!
In regards to the dock and New Otherton still in one piece, I think you’re on to something with that fan question concerning the lost time between 2004-2007. While I tend to agree that Keamy and his team destroyed a lot of the barracks in 2004, I think we’re missing an event of two prior to Ajira’s arrival in 2007. Remember in an earlier Season 5 episode when the left-behinders came back to the beach camp and it was destroyed much like New Otherton? Perhaps there was something in between those years that will soon be explained, but I don’t really think it was the castaways that altered the future.
And Hurley’s dialogue had me in stitches. Heh. I’m also going to vote that the woman in the barracks was a production error.

  4. Rob from Ontario says:

That Jay and Jack 25 hour podcast was killer …almost literally, I’m just waking up ๐Ÿ˜› anyways, Ryan and Jen! Loved this episode of the Tranmission, and thanks Ryan for posting a few extra notes here in the blog. I also believe that the woman could not have been a mistake, I mean …that’s a HUGE mistake for a show like this, where they know everyone will be looking, especially in that room where there are so many things laying around in the background. Claire does seem to be the obvious answer as stated up above.

  5. Hector from Mexico says:

    Hello all,

I haven’t downloaded the podcast yet, but will do later today and hopefully listen to it afterwards.

I just had a flashback and wanted to confirm it with you. Isn’t Radzinsky the same guy who keeps repeating the numbers in Hurley’s mental institution? I think he’s called Leonard.

Just a thought and since we know Radzinsky was working in the Swan model, there might be some connection. Will have to check the episode later.

    Cheers!

  6. mcliam says:

In regards to the production error, it definitely looks like a blonde woman holding on to something, cradling it, almost like a child or small dog.

  7. Loo says:

When the Swan had to be built yet, why was Marvin Kendle wearing a swan logo in the meet and greet video ?

  8. alias says:

on the lost official podcast the writers say that the season finally is called the incident.

  9. Geoffrey says:

I think it’s interesting that the people that Ben had Michael bring him earlier in the series were the characters that he would have recognized, except for Sayid. I wonder how they are going to handle that.

  10. Jason from Virginia says:

I was thinking a bit about why the difference between the “flashers” and the “crashers” (which you guys so appropriately named in a previous episode) and I think those people with the theory that it is some type of rule that the same person can’t occupy the same space and time seems to make sense. I was re-watching some episodes and in Season 3, when Sun is cornered on the boat and shoots the unnamed woman, the woman says “I know you, Sun . You’re not a killer.” That would seem to indicate that she spent time with her in some capacity. Maybe Sun actually is on the island as a child. (theories of her being Chang’s daughter, etc)

I have another theory along these lines, however. I wonder if perhaps all of the pregnancies that don’t make it happen because the baby that is to be born already exists in that time. A surviving baby would break this rule so they don’t make it through birth. This then of course gets into head-hurting territory, but it’s a theory.

    Namaste.

  11. SToNe P says:

the mp3 link appears broken as for the other ones as well.

  12. Josh in California says:

Rayn and Jen can you please check out the link for the podcast.. it’s broken on both itunes style of podcasts and just regular downloading on your blog.. I’m in desperate need of hearing this weeks. Thanks for everything you guys do!!

  13. Ryan says:

D’oh! Something’s up at our media host (Libsyn). Blog says it’s something wrong with their Content Delivery Network (CDN). Submitted a request for a fix!

  14. ChiliDog says:

Did Ryan actually say Sayid got sucked off? LMAO

How about renaming the segment “You All Everybody” to “You All Everybody and John from North Carolina?”

I know, get my own podcast…. LOL

Seriously though, I wonder if Sun remaining with the crashies has more to do with her the goal she has in common with Widmore, killing Benjamin Linus.

To the folks that think she didn’t flash because she can’t occupy two spaces at the same time, recall that Sawyer and Locke were both on the island with their past selves when the island was skipping.

What is the significance of Christian using a flashlight? Recall Jacob gets violent around such devices.

  15. bluedog1121 says:

In regards to the mystery person behind Sun in the processing center, I would think there’s no way it could be a mistake, or surely someone is losing their job. That’s a pretty huge mistake. (I admit that I did not notice this person the first viewing.)

Jorge Garcia posted on the Fuselage the day (or maybe two days) after the ep aired. He says he saw the person, too, and looked at his copy of the script to see what the deal was. There is no mention of the person in his script, BUT he also says that doesn’t mean anything because things are always getting changed/added/moved around at the last minute.

  16. TVSciFi says:

The second picture Mcliam pointed out is much clearer to me.

The woman behind Sun is definitely a production person. She’s wearing headphones and looking at a monitor. And she is wearing a shirt with a logo on it.

  17. Ryan says:

I can’t download the podcast for some reason and the link provided doesn’t work.

  18. Aegis says:

Podcast mp3 link works now ^^

  19. Ben says:

The link now works, but it only plays the very beginning of the podcast then stops.

  20. Gerry says:

The podcast only plays the first 19:47 minutes. Please repost the full podcast. Thanks.

  21. Stan from Lomita says:

The woman in the background looks to me to be holding a camera. I think she’s the camera operator focused on Christian for the scene.

  22. Paul from Cali says:

Link is still broken. I can only get the first 20 minutes.

  23. Ryan says:

Gerry, Paul, I’ve had a couple of friends test the download and they’re getting the whole show. What link is broken?

  24. Laurel says:

The link is not working for me, either. I get the first 19:46 of the podcast, and that’s it!! Have tried downloading at different times today, all the same result. Help……………. ๐Ÿ™

  25. Rob from Ontario says:

Hmm …i was just thinking. Charlotte said not to bring “her” back in “This Place is Death” , she was talking about Sun wasn’t she? Hmmm probably why she’s different than Jack, Kate and Hurley and with Frank. Also, young Ben asks if Sayid is a hostile, after he confirms it …Ben asks if he wanted mustard. Doesn’t that seem odd? He also asked Richard when Ben was a tad bit younger if he was a hostile. Richard responded with “Do you even know what that means?” something like that …

  26. Rob from Ontario says:

Oh ..a few more things. Frank and the co-pilot heard the numbers on the radio before they crashed (well ..landed is more like it, although the co-pilot got skewered in the end) so …I don’t think they are in the present, because wasn’t the radio tower shut down completely? Hmm ..something fishy going on. Oh yeah, it was so awesome meeting Radzinksi… I wonder why he edited the Swan video (according to Kelvin) and i’m even more convinced that Amy is an Other since Ethan was born into the DI. I think she is Richards inside woman and helps with the Purge (eventually) and that’s how Ethan becomes an Other.

  27. Tracey says:

Does anyone know a way to listen to the whole podcast? I tried listening to Ryan’s link, the mp3 on this page and on iTunes to no avail.

  28. Brady says:

It’s March 25th and the links still only play 19:47 worth of the podcast. I’ve tried everything I can think of.

  29. Arad says:

Hey Ryan and Jen! I am not able to listen to the entire podcast as well. It cuts off at 19:46. Perhaps you could try and reload the entire show? Strange, I’ve never had a problem listening to the podcasts before.

Keep up the great work. I can’t digest a show without the two of you and Darlton! Great work, guys.

  30. Ryan says:

I’ve deleted the file and uploaded it once more. Plays all the way through to the end for me. Hope this finally does the trick, and my apologies for the hiccups.

  31. Jason says:

Im still having problems with it ๐Ÿ™

  32. Sandy in L.A. says:

Hi, Ryan, it looks like the problem downloading the podcast remains: I’ve tried it several times in the last hour-and-a-half (it’s now 11:30 PM on the West Coast) and each time only got 18.2mb rather than the 71mb noted by the player button. This is the same file size I got this morning and which provides only the first 19:46 minutes others have reported.

Finally so desperate to hear what you had to say I decided to give in and see if iTunes (not a fan) would work, which it did, though what I got was the enhanced AAC version. So I opened the program I use all the time to convert AAC/m4a/mp4/etc. files downloaded from the web into mp3 format for my not-an-ipod player…but to no avail. Am guessing there’s some proprietary Apple thing that brought forth the technical error message and only allowed about 6 minutes to be converted.

Then I gave my good old Juice podcatcher a whirl, but your feed address (http://www.hawaiiup.com/lost/feed/) doesn’t work — or at least, that is, Juice can “see” the last several podcasts and lists them, but can’t download them.

So I opened up iTunes again, tracked down the plain old mp3 Transmission, clicked to download…and got the first 19:46 minutes of the show.

    I’m so sad.

And now much later than I should be to start getting ready for bed.

And without any time left over to post my two cents about the “mystery woman” (or should I do that in the previous discussion?)

So I’m hoping that with your technical genius, Ryan, you’ll have an idea as to why the mp3 version is still not downloadable past the first 25% or so of the show, and be able to fix it without much more hassle for yourself. And if not, could you pretty please send it to me at the address I left in the field required for posting? I miss me my Ryan and Jen!!!

Hoping to be able to hear all the Transmission-y goodness tomorrow, I remain now and forever—

    — Your friend and fan, Sandy in L.A.

  33. Sandy in L.A. says:

PS to my earlier posting (which isn’t yet showing as I write this follow-up): the Juice podcatcher did, after all, read and download from the feed address, but again only 19:46 minutes….

  34. Josh in California says:

i was able to download it finally through itunes.. can’t wait for tommorrow’s episode

  35. Tony says:

Hi Ryan, thanks for fixing the delivery problem. I was finally able to download this morning via the POD icon but the cut and paste url still only gives about 20 min of the show. Just FYI. Love the podcast. Can’t wait to hear the latest.

  36. Hackdaddy says:

I think the whole Dharma/Others purge is an important angle for the characters, but not significant to the mystery of the island. The writers are so good at giving us all sorts of little sidebars that seem to be moutains but end up being mole-hills. Still think we’re going way back to the beginning and creation before this thing is over. The island has always been, the others have always been, everybody else is just there threatening to screw it all up.

  37. Mark says:

Hi Ryan, or anyone else who can help. I am still having podcast trouble. I use Creative’s ZENCast. When I update the feed, it shows the 70mb download, but once I start to download, this changes to 18mb and therefore I only get the first 20mins or so. I have tried the link on this site too, and still no luck. It is currently Wed 25th March at 5:15pm (GMT time, I’m in Belfast, Northern Ireland.)

    Thanks guys,
    Mark

  38. Andrea says:

    Hi Ryan and Jen
I’m having problems with the MP3 link. I can only get to the 19:47 mark, and then the podcast stops! Please help! I love to listen to you guys every week!
    Thanks!

  39. Ryan says:

I have no idea what’s going on, but I’ve gone ahead and just uploaded a separate file with a different name in the hopes that it’s fresh and complete. Please try the links above again or just hit this one:

  40. Dave says:

Apologies if these ideas have already been covered but I’m finally listening to the podcast and I thought of a few things.

    1) The people in 1977 are not the people on Ben’s list. How would Ben know that Sawyer/LaFleur is James Ford?

    2) Someone commented on how Pierre Chang assigns Jack to be a work man but Kate’s assignment is not there yet. Crazy thought: what if the two people who backed out of the Dharma Initiative’s sub ride were Christian Shepherd and someone else? So Chang assumes Jack is Christian (maybe a nickname?) Shepherd. Jack takes Christian’s place on the island, Jack needs to get back to the future in 2004, he brings Christinan, the universe course-corrects, and hey presto we’re all good.

(Or maybe Jack’s grandfather was the one who backed out… he seems to enjoy running…)

  41. Bomir from MTL says:

What if Juliet had simply neglected to include Kate
and then had second thoughts (ร‚ยซI better not do that…ร‚ยป
and hurried to put her back on the list
Isnt that the kind of bitchy stuff women do sometimes to an opponent?

I am still bugged by the definition of Dharma material for the recruits
What could be their criteria for choosing janitors?

  42. Sandy in L.A. says:

This morning, in a state of near withdrawal from not having had my Transmission fix, I googled around to see if I could somewhere, somehow, find another site that would let me download the show. Found a few I could stream but not download, or would only download that same first 20 minutes. Aargh. Then happily discovered what Mark already knew, that The Transmission is available through Zencast (my player is a Creative Zen)…but had the same problem, as Mark also noted.

    Sigh.

However, with a little more link clicking I was on a site called mefeedia.com, where lo and behold I could stream AND download the show in its entirety!

    Insert “Rocky” theme here.

When I came here to recount my final success and let those still trying know where they could download the mp3, I spotted Ryan’s last link, tried it, and now have two (count ’em!) compete, 70mb, one hour and 17 minute Transmission 200903022s. Yay!

Thanks again, Ryan, for taking the additional time and effort to make this episode available for all of us — going, as you and Jen always do, above and beyond for your listeners.

  43. Andrea says:

Thank you thank you thank you for making this podcast work!

  44. Kim says:

    Hi Ryan and Jen,

Thanks for all your hard work putting out these podcasts. Hopefully all the technical problems will be worked out soon and we can hear the rest.

I appreciate your insight into and explanations of the different scifi aspects. However, I am a fan of BOTH the mythology and the character stories and in particular Jack and Kate as individuals and as a couple. I may be in the minority here among your listeners, but in case not, I hope that you and your other listeners will give them fairer consideration. Also, I want to clear up a common misconception and perhaps prejudice a lot of fans seem to have about “romance” and fans of it. Just because I like romance doesn’t mean I like soap opera. I know a lot of shippers who are also sick of this love quadrangle–whatever and how the writers have been handling it and in particular, Kate’s character. I, like a lot of people, like a little melodrama, but to carry it out this long is exhausting. I think the writers are beginning to realize this–hopefully! I get the impression from a lot of fans, however, that those who like romance (unless it be the couple of the moment, like Desmond and Penny or now, Sawyer and Juliet–both of whom I also like, btw), are silly, immature, superficial, and of course, female. I for one, am only one of those things (though I can be silly too–as can many a Lost fan)!

  45. Mark says:

    Thankyou Ryan!

  46. tw111 says:

Has anyone who also watches Mad Men noticed that Phil is the same actor who played Jimmy, the sarcastic standup comic who insulted the wife of the Utz potato chips tycoon?

  47. tw111 says:

BTW, Ryan and Jen…. love the podcast, it’s one of my absolute favorites. Keep up the great work!
