Great Podcast guys keep up the good work 😀
“?” Was a great episode but i do have to comment about something Jen said about Richard Malkin…
Jen said that Richard Malkin reminds her of Whoopi Goldberg from ghost where she doesn’t believe in her powers until she meets patrick swayzee
I don’t believe that is entirely the case with Malkin.
My theory is that Richard Malkin has a connection to the island that we have not been made aware of yet. there are many reasons why i believe this, but the main one is that on an old podcast, Damon & Carlton wanted to put both Locke’s dad and Richard Malkin in the other’s custody, on the island, but decided that that’s not how they wanted Richard’s character to play out.
But this is how i see Richard Malkin…
Richard Malkin DOES have a previous relationship with the island and/or people that are/or have been on it, and i believe he is helping to get certain people to the island that are asked of him. Ex. Maybe Jacob made a list for Malkin containing all the people he needed to be on the island. This also means that perhaps Claire And Mr. Eko are not the only two people who’s had a run in with the good ole psychic.
Regardless i don’t believe that this episode had any intention of naming Malkin as a fraud, if that was the case then i honestly don’t see why he would even be in, it would seem like a waste of time. I think that the overall message that Darlton was trying to send us was this:
Richard Malkin knew Eko was supposed to go to los angeles with the help of his friend, then Eko’s boss assigned him to Malkin’s daughter which ended up bringing him to Malkin. Here Malkin lies by saying that he is a fraud and there is nothing wrong with his daughter, because by telling Eko this, Eko will have good reason to disband the investigation and he can proceed to go to the airport and climb aboard 815.
See Malkin is like ben, he knows what’s going on, whats going to happen and he knows how to manipulated people but instead of ben he is in the category of the likes of Richard Alpert, Abbadon, Jacob, and Chirstian who we have a pretty good idea that they’re are somewhat connected to the island, but we still don’t know how or why. I can say that there is a pretty good chance they we’ll see malkin one or two times before the series is over, but i just felt like sharing that with you guys. 😀
Hi,
Just wondering if you have any thoughts on how the Eko backstory relates to the photos on young-Eko on the wall of the haunted lady’s house that Miles Ghostbusts in Season 4?
