[...] Ryan and Jen have just announced that they are putting an end to their popular Lost fan podcast, “The Transmission“. A very well-produced (Ryan apparently has some radio background) show of 30 minutes each week, presented by two big fans with a good voice.
Hi Ryan and Jen,
I have been a listener from the beginning and this was my first LOST podcast. I have been in England student teaching so I am cut off from LOST and all the podcasts I have come to love listening to, the Transmission especially. I subscribed to HawaiiUp because I missed hearing your voices. I am very sad you are stopping the Transmission.

Thanks for everything.

Jen and Ryan:

As a member of a couple that does a Podcast for Runners, I understand the time commitment that it takes to do a Podcast. But with that said, you two did a fantastic job on the LOST show. I could always impress my friends with the different theories that I learned from your show. You two do need to keep in touch, you both have talent and the podcasting world need people like you to keep it alive.

Take care, I will keep you two in my thoughts!

Ryan and Jen you seriously made watching Lost a better experience for all of us. Your insights into the characters and the show, and simply the gentle sounds of your voices have been wonderful to listen to. I wish you and your family all the best in the future. Hope to hear more from you guys in the future... maybe you could make a comeback tour in Season 3/4 when things hopefully get really interesting. Goodbye for now from Melbourne, Australia.

Thanks for the podcast guys, you were one of the 1st podcasts I downloaded and set the bar high for all those that I have heard since. Your podcast really made the show much better, and that speaks very highly of your talents and well thought out commentary you delivered each week.

While I hate to see you go I have to give kudos for pulling the plug knowing that you couldn't continue the high quality podcasts you guys got us fans used to.

Cheers and Aloha!

Ryan and Jen, you're breaking my heart. Before you, Lost was just a fun little show about some wacky castaways, and now I can't watch an episode without hitting pause or rewind at least 5 times. I'm sure I'm not the only casual fan that you turned into an absolute junkie, and we all thank you for your work.

I just want to express my gratitude for all of your hard work and generosity. I have three kids too and somedays I'm so busy I can barely breath. I don't know how you do all that you do. I'll miss standing at my scrapbooking table listening to the Transmission as I kept my hands busy and my mind expanding. That was my favorite way to grab a few moments for myself each week. I completely understand the need to sometimes take a step back from over-committing. Best wishes in everything you do. I'll miss you!

ryan and jen,
thanks for the many fun afternoons we had listening to you two. luckily we have been "saving up" some of your podcasts in prep for a crosscountry trip we are embarking on tomorrow (san francisco -> brooklyn by way of many nat'l parks).. but are sad that there will be no chance to call in from the road. well at least the episodes have been great and i hope you are both still having fun watching! you will be remembered as true inspirations.
love,

Listened to you guys from nearly the beginning. It became a weekly routine just like watching the show Lost itself. Sorry to see you guys move on, but from the way it sounds it was the best decision for you both. No matter what you might think, it sounds like I'm not the only one who like to hear from both of you again. Even if it was monthly, you have a podcast subscriber. I'll be waiting. Best of luck to you and your family.

I will miss you guys so much. You have become part of the family and make watching "Lost" so much more accessible. I hope at some point you reconsider. Please remember all the "friends" you have made around the world. Your "frapper" just astounded me, and I was so proud to be part of it! Not to mention so excited for you and your successes. Hope to hear from you, Ryan and Jen, at some point in the future. Thanks for all you have done! I miss you already.

Tell me this is all a dream, and that I'll wake up Thursday morning, and have my coffee, and go to your website, and there it will be. A new podcast ready and waiting.................maybe if I go to sleep now.....early..........remember when you were a kid, and you would go to sleep early on Christmas Eve, so that Christmas Day would get here faster!!...................no?...........oh well. In that case I agree with the person above make it a paysite and you'll have lots of customers.

Ryan & Jen,

I've been busy this past week, so I'm a little behind on catching up on the podcasts I listen to. When I listened to yours last night I felt so sad. I have enjoyed your podcast very very much. You guys seem to have a lot of fun with it and you've been very successful. I know I told everyone I know about it. It was a pleasure listening to you...you've given me some tips on my own podcast. My goal is to model it after your success. I think it's a great plan to go by. Anyway, just wanted to wish you the best of luck. Take care of yourselves and best wishes. You have made "Lost" even more enjoyable for me and countless others.

We all everybody's gonna miss you guys!

Oh, geez!

Like lots of folks have already said, yours was the first podcast I ever listened to. You set the standard for what I expected of other 'casts, and I've been mostly disappointed.

I idly wondered how much work must go into your shows, and I guess the answer is, "too much to have a real life, too." Family has to come first. (Hey - you didn't get a case of the guilts from Charlie, did you?)

Please consider random acts of podcasts when you have the urge. You have a lot of folks who'll be listening and hoping.

Aloha and mahalo. Take care!

This is really bad news!

I am seriously hoping there's not some "other" reason as to the demise of this superb podcast??

Either way, would it be wrong for me to suggest a petition gets underway to bring back the transmission??

I realise you, Ryan and Jen, are just two normal people with lives and jobs and as little free time as the rest of us but come on, finish the series with us?

Or just do a fortnightly podcast? Half its length, don't bother with the recaps section... there MUST be an answer???

I want you back, sorry, its that straight. You guys are great accompaniments to the show and I miss you :o(

BRING BACK RYAN AND JEN!!!!

ryan and jen, we were so bummed to hear the news. my husband and i listen to the show religiously and then talk about it afterwards. thank you for all of your hardwork. your show was always a delight to listen to, and despite your protests, was quite professional as well. :) best of luck in the future!

Ryan and Jen,
Thanks for your great podcast. I am sorry to hear it is ending. I always made your podcast a priority and am sad to see it go. I was able to enjoy Lost so much more fully after listening. I hardly ever watch reruns, but do look forward to rewatching Lost after listening your to podcast. However, you know what's best for your family situation. I wish you all the best.

I never listen to podcasts and never, naver join fan groups, and never send feedback. But I accidentally happened upon your podcast and was instantly addicted. You did a phenomenal job in every way. It was better than professional radio. It was thoroughly entertaining well organized and I think we all began to think of you as friends. You will never know how much you will be missed.

If money was a factor and there is some way of sending you some offline, I am sure your audience/friends would want to rally and send a little each to compensate you for the cost of doing the podcast. (NOT a podcast for which there would be a charge, but rather voluntary contributions.)

I hope something brings you back.

Aloha

Sorry to hear The Transmission has ended... I had just come across it a few weeks ago. Thanks much for your great podcast. I have since tried a couple of others but they are no substitute--too much chatting by the hosts about themselves, dumb jokes, not so much about LOST itself. But I also realize how much time and preparation go into producing a GOOD podcast, and can understand why you're unable to do it anymore.

Hope you'll consider doing a special one-time or season-ending podcast, as someone else mentioned. Thanks again, and best of luck!

Hey guys, I'm sorry to hear you got so involved that you had to cut yourselves off completely. That's what it sounds like, anyway. Burnout is one of the hardest things to avoid when you get involved in a project that you enjoy so much, but takes a lot of time.

You two got me hooked on podcasts. Yours was the first podcast I listened to, and now I feel like an expert podcast listener. I enjoyed your shows more than any others, but I think Jay and Jack might be picking up where you two left off.

Thanks for keeping it real and not letting the show get run down through burnout. You satisfied my Lost fix when Lost wasn't around. Thanks

Aaaw Ryan and Jen, I sure hope this is an early April's Fools joke. However, I do understand that you do have priorities to sort out. Well, you are being listened to all the way here in Singapore. And it was just last weeks episode, when my husband, a local from Hawaii started listening in. Anyways, we will now check your vlogs. Take care and Aloha!

What an outstanding show the Transmission was. What a loss. I'm not a huge fan of Lost but rather a huge fan of your podcast. What the two of you accomplished, bringing together people from all over the world (to talk about a TV show for Pete's sake!) to think about philosophy, religion, the future, good and evil.... "Lost" will not be the same without the Transmission. Your humor and thoughtful examination of each show, your respect for all your listeners no matter how far out their comments, was truly remarkable and refreshing. I'm not sure why you're bowing out...I suspect it has something to do with your having a *real* life. If that's the case, then kudos to you for knowing what's really important and where to place your priorities. Mahalo for the shows you created for your cyberpod friends. We will all be LOST without the Transmission. You will be missed....
p.s. Just to give you an idea of the demographics you've reached, I'm a 60 year old retired woman who really doesn't like tv at all.

O, man. I was just getting into the show. Even though I only started listening a few weeks ago I canl feel the void of not having a Transmission to look forward to. I really enjoyed the show and wish you guys could have gone on till the very distant end of "Lost". Thank you both very much for the excellent shows you put on and I wish you much luck in anything and everything in life.

Not to try and entice you back or anything, but I would pay for the download if you ever decide to return...

Bad bad news! We are also parents of a small baby but used to curl up on a Thurs evening after we'd downloaded your podcast and our own Rian (pron. Ryan) was in bed and just listen....

We'd pay too just to keep your podcast coming!!! Is that something you'd consider?!?!?! Please....

The other Lost-casts are just a little too 'up-their-own-arses' and take themselves a little too seriously - you guys were genuinely fun and your love of the show and of people's thoughts and ideas made the Podcast amazing!

Anyway Jen and Ryan, thanks for the wonderful podcasts up till now and let us know if there's anyone we can lobby or pressure to pay you guys to continue. You totally have the right vibe and attitude that is half the fun of Lost!!! WE WILL MISS YOU!!!!

Hey,
I just started listening to your podcast a few weeks ago and I was loving it. I will definitly be sad to see you guys go, but I have to say that you have introduced me to the podcast world. I had no idea that you could do this. Anyways, my brother and I would like to thank you for letting us sit down and listen to something without us constantly fighting. Lost rules!

Thanks for your great podcast. It was my favorite one and I looked forward to listening to it every week. It saved me from having to waste a lot of time trawling the forums for details about the episode that I had just seen. I loved your summaries and discussion and the fact that I could listen while doing other things like walking or doing the dishes. I can't do that with forums.

I'm really sorry to see you go. Thanks for all your hard work and I wish you the best in your future efforts.

Ryan and Jen,

With a family to tend to, I'm sure this got way too big so that you had no time for anything else! Even though I wrote to you in an email, I thought I would share my thoughts again now....I really enjoyed your podcast and will miss it and both of you and the tireless effort you put in to make this a great podcast and something to look forward to after every show.

Good luck to both of you!

I really loved your show and listening to you while on the Rome subway, staying in touch with my favourite show in the US.
In my heart I hope this is a joke and next week while updating my podcast, another episode of the Transmission will be there...

Thanks for all your time and effort--it's been a great ride.

As a parent of two young kids I was always amazed at how you found the time and energy to produce an hour+ podcast each week (not to mention responding to hundreds of email messages, dealing with termites, etc.) I hope you enjoy next week's episode and get to bed early for a change.

I think you did a tremendous job showcasing how podcasting could be used to connect fans from all around the world. Thanks for doing your part to blaze the path. My Friday morning drives will just not be the same without you.

What a bummer! I just discovered your show about 2 weeks ago, and was instantly addicted. Now I feel like I'm losing a friend, the show is that good. Well, good luck in your future, and if you change your mind, we all everybody will sure be listening! :)

Sigh. I would have paid money for this podcast--and I don't say that lightly. I haven't even listened to the last one yet; just saw the download and note this morning in iTunes.

Thank you for all you have done for the LOST community. You really made a difference in people's lives, I hope you know, as you can see from all the comments.

Plugged my iPod for my Thursday morning drive to work, anxiously awaiting your Podcast only to find that it was no more. Had to drop by and leave a comment to say thanks for everything you've done, yours was always my favorite podcast and I will miss it dearly. Sadly, Lost will be less interesting without your enthusiasm and commentary. Can't we kill off Charlie and keep Ryan and Jen?

Anyway,a thanks again!

Gutted doesn't cover it! I am so sad that the Transmission has ended. It was my introduction to podcasting and the most anticipated podcast in my iTunes. Guys, whatever reasons you had for stopping I hope that you are okay and having fun still. I shall miss the Transmission (the other podcasts simply don't meet your standard... but shhh! don't tell them).

For me, your podcast had become a part of the whole Lost phenomenon and it is a sad loss. If you ever decide to return then I'll be there listening and if you ever needs help in getting the Transmission going again you can count on me!

My brother, who had an ipod for about a year, didn't even use it until I told him about your podcast. I didn't think he knew HOW to....he started listening about 4 weeks ago and is really bummed out about you leaving....My roommate and I are devastated by your calling it quits but it's also a little refreshing knowing that you've grown closer to each other - and are willing to try new stuff - it's also refreshing that i can listen to some of my other podcasts now...we'll miss you.

So sad to download your last podcast - my wife and I had a blast listening to you this season. The other lost podcasts aren't quite the same... Thanks for being the first podcast we got addicted to - and good luck for the future

oh, I almost cried.
you're like soooooo breaking up with us.
you were my first podcast, it will take some time to move on to another.

but i know what "its not you, its me" means. it means you found another podcast with a much better car and a job at the mall!

(in all seriousness.....sniffle, sniffle)
i wish you the best and thank you for creating a public place for all of us. it was by far the best podcast out there.

and as someone much smarter than me once said:

"saying goodbye, why is it sad
makes us remember the goodtimes we had"

best wishes........

Many many thanks for all the remarkable effort you put into your show. I really enjoyed listening to a show so obviousely made with care and love, and it makes me sad to think it is no more!

May I wish you and your family all the best for the future.

Hi Ryan and Jen,

I cannot believe the news and am really sad to hear it has come to an end. The slick production and relaxed style of the transmission has been astounding and is why so many of us listen to your show.

Perhaps all of us could donate a pound a show; you both give up your day jobs and move to a 3 shows-a-week schedule!!! It was just a thought?

Take care and good luck in what ever you do and keep up the enthusiasm you both have!

Regards

Thank you so much for all the enjoyment you guys have given your listeners! I'm so sad to know that I'm not going to hear your voices anymore. You're recaps were always fantastic, and helped me with all the little stuff I might have missed... and I loved listening to you theorize about what might actually be going on with 'Lost'. Maybe someday you guys will come back to us. If you get bored enough during the summer hiatus, feel free to pop out a couple of podcasts. We'll be here waiting if you feel like starting up again.

Much Love,
Jennie

Major downer. This is the only podcast I listen to religiously and since the news I have checked out other LOST podcasts. They all have merit but your podcast was major-league while the others feel like they are struggling in the minors. I know with three kids and work and such this must be tough to maintain. Kudos for you for going out on top. You will be sorely missed.

Not fair - like ATM's you got us hooked.

The truly sad thing is, I'm certain folks would have paid cash money to hear this podcast.

I know I would have.

Thanks Ryan and Jen, and if you two are closer as a result of this experience then that is a great thing.

I can't beleive it! You guys were BY FAR the best of the LOST podcasters, and without you guys, I think I'm going to give up listening to the LOST podcasts. Hopefully whatever is going on with you guys clears up and you can make sporadic returns with the Transmission. Until then you will be missed.

Sorry to see the podcast end. On the other hand, my modem will be happy for the reprieve from grabbing 90-minute audio files once a week. I hope the one Sledgeweb [http://lost.cubit.net] is thinking about starting up is half as good.

Guys,

I don't think it's hyperbole to say that you will be remembered as pioneers of the brave new medium of podcasting! I know that when I think back years from now, it will definitely be The Transmission that I will remember that got me hooked on the whole concept. Great work and thanks for all you've done!

Anyway, I'd like to dedicate this song to you - not as a "going away" present - so let's call it a "signing off" present!

"Farewell Transmission" by Magnolia Electric Co.:

And be sure to tell your kids when they grow up that you were famous and all... Aloha! :-)

Aloha Ryan and Jen,
You guys are gonna be missed so very much. I am so Caught up in ABC'S Lost and your podcast has been the most wonderful compliment to the best thing that has ever been on Network TV....or Syndicated for that matter!
I did try the other podcast and The Transmission was the one that really worked for me!
I had just this pass weekend bought a cool headset/microphone so I could start sending audio files and join in the chatter.
I just want you both to know that I wish you only the best and hope someday to make it to your beautiful state and hear a familiar voice say either aloha or mahalo!!!!
Ryan and Jen (who has the greatest voice ever for a podcast) please take great care and know there is a whole community out here in cyber space that is LOST without you.

Wow I feel like we will be missing a big part of the show. The recaps always helped me see things clearer. The forward cabin always got me thinking of new possibilities and even the great quality of callers comments and speculations actually sent me down many paths reading books watching movies etc.ABC should actually pay you to keep the fire going. I for one would be willing to spend say 5 dollars a month subscription fee! You a definitly a big part of my "Lost" experience. Thanks Again!

The problem is every other Lost podcast I listen to from now on will be compared to The Transmission, which was just the perfect blend of everything. They just can't compare and aren't the same. There really isn't a good replacement, just decent (at best) substitutes. As much as I try to respect the decisions of Ryan and Jenn, I can't help but feel let down and truly sad. It was weekly ritual for me to listen and it's like this great couple is dead to me or something (hence the "see you in another life"). All in all, it's been a couple days and I still feel as depressed this happened. Wish there was something we, as listeners, could do. Maybe financial support for this? Will miss you dearly.

I was found, but now I am lost!.
Ryan & Jen..........your show was great every week!
Everything happens for a reason, good luck with your future endeavors.
I really became a lost junkie, and I loved your podcast the best.
Aloha from Chicago and hope to hear from you again.
Remember, you finished your podcast with a Desmond comment.....
so I'll end my comments the same way...he also said
" You've got to lift it up", so keep it elevated!!!

The Transmission may be no more, but let's remember it was a spin-off from Ryan's original podcast, HawaiiUP. Perhaps when Ryan posts another HawaiiUP show and Jen appears for her Pith of Pop segments, they can be coaxed into a little Lost talk like the old days, hmmm?

I encourage folks to check out the HawaiiUP archives. Jay and Jack will never miss out on Jen's sexy voice.

Dear Ryan and Jen,

I, too, am deeply saddened by the end of The Transmission. As many people stated above, if it's true that it's mostly because of time constraints that you can't continue the show the way it's been done, perhaps someday when things calm down a little, or you're just really bored, you'll put out a special edition once in a while of The Transmission. I'm sure all of us would listen. In the last 24 hours I have been brainstorming ideas for how you can maybe make special episodes that only come out once in a while.

Here are some ideas. Feel free, anyone, to add to them:

1. I know you normally put many hours worth of planning into each show, but I'd enjoy an improvised show if you ever have the itch to come back. You know, just wing it. Hell, I'd listen.

2. A commentary show: a podcast that can be played simultaneously with an episode of LOST, with all of your insight and comments. It would be cool to hear your insights on a location while we're looking at it on the screen.

3. Specials - when something really wild and crazy happens on LOST, just pop out of nowhere and throw out a podcast about it!

I know it's a long shot, but in a few weeks or months from now, I hope you consider some of these ideas. You know we'll still love you if you never do another podcast again, but maybe an alternative version may suit your family's needs, as well as fulfill your love for talking about LOST.

I always admired how you never made fun of people's theories (no matter how far fetched they may have seemed) and encouraged people to share their thoughts. It felt good to know we could do that without being made fun of or mocked. You genuinely welcomed all ideas, and I loved that. Also, thanks for not being full of yourselves! There is a great temptation in Podcasting to just yammer on and on and on and go off on a million tangents that nobody thinks are cute or funny, and you guys never did that. That was cool - you were straight to the point and humble, and that is very admirable.

Ok, I'm done now. Mahalo.

Love, Julie

I understand what it's like to have a full schedule, so I can't blame you for giving up the Transmission. Hopefully you two can get back into it eventually. Have you thought about maybe putting out a much less frequent version of the Transmission? As time permitted, you could do a short cast every few episodes or so...I'll keep you guys in iTunes just in case!!
Thank you very much for all of your work!!

I am so bummed! Your show is my favorite LOST podcast. I just got addicted....I'm a little disturbed that I teared up just a little when I heard your announcement - lol!

Great job, Ryan and Jen! As others have said 'The Transmission' has been special and distinct from other LOST podcasts. I've loved getting to know other LOST fans through your "You All Everybody" segment and the post-show calls, and getting to know you both just a bit. It's been great and I'm really going to miss it.

I hope that, if your schedule changes and balance permits, that you'll continue resurrecting the show. I'll be holding my breath and crossing my fingers (and toes).

Love you guys! Aloha!

It’s been great and I’m really going to miss it.

I hope that, if your schedule changes and balance permits, that you’ll continue resurrecting the show. I’ll be holding my breath and crossing my fingers (and toes).

Love you guys! Aloha!

Hey guys~
As a big fan, I'm sorry to hear your signing off. Y'all were not only the first LOST podcast I listened to, but my very first podcast. Your show was always so seamless and professional, and I enjoyed every minute of it. I felt like a little kid waiting to download your cast. You guys did a specatacular job and I find myself comparing other podcasts (even ones not about LOST) to the professionalism of yours. I know it must have taken a lot of hard work and time to put out something so good. I'm staying subscribed just in case you guys find the time to make a comeback.
Que Dios te bendice tu vida. (May God bless your lives) since you were certainly a blessing to hear from every week.

Adios,
Martha

Hi Ryan and Jen,

Your podcast was the VERY FIRST podcast I ever listened to starting back in October. I always looked forward to going to work on Thursdays because it was when I would get to hear two friendly voices talking about a show I like very much.

I have to say that out of all the Lost podcasts out there, your's was the most down-to-earth and professional. Great job!

I know how much time podcasts can take to create, so I completely understand your decision. Why not do a show when the season is over so we can at least hear your thoughts on how it turned out? There's no rule that says you have to do a weekly podcast either. Remember, when it comes to hobbies, you can create yor own rules. I think we would rather hear you two once in awhile than not at all.

Well, good luck to the both of you and thanks again for all your great work.

Thanks,
Dan

Believe it or not I actually started listening to your podcasts before I started waiting 'Lost'. You two got me started on 'Lost' and made it so much more interesting to watch. Are you sure you're not quitting because ABC failed to raise your salary like they did for the regular cast members? I think $80K per episode for you guys sound reasonable. Do want us to start a petition on your behalf?

Thanks for all your hard work. I'm glad you're ending your podcast for practical reasons and not for anything controversial or tragic. See you around the 'Lost' world.

Hi guys, I am so sad to hear you are going off the air. But I understand that about life changes... I hope to see you next year at the next season. Also hope to see your boards keep up.

Hopefully someone from ABC may pickup your show and syndicate it over the air and air you once a week on TV. It is definately a show well worth it!

Hey guys,

That's unfortunate, but understandable.

Good luck, and thank you so much for the podcast while it lasted. There was a definitive reason why you made the top 10 podcasting list. You guys did it, and did it well.

Thanks again, and hey, who knows, unlike LOST characters, maybe we might see you guys in a "flash-forward". It's gonna be a long series after all!

Thanks again,
Arad

Dear Ryan and Jen,

I just want to thank you for all the work you've done on this amazing beyond amazing podcast.

Every thursday night, I used to listen to it before bed, and since I fall asleep in three seconds--I was able to delay one show to anywhere from four to six days. I used to even rave about it to my friends. They told me I was podcast-addicted.

I called in once and even got on the air! I thank you sooo much for doing it and I'm unfortunately going to give up listening to podcasts because none of them are even close to worth it like yours!

Thank you and thanks so much for putting me on the air.

Love always,
Sydney

Guys, im gutted!

Your podcast was the best one on all of iTunes!

i was so sad to hear that you are not doing any more!

Please, come back for a few specials, Maybe a Podcast every 4-6 Episodes? Or a season Recap when Season 2 comes to a end?

Im in the UK, and your show is popular here as it is all over the world.

Thank you so much, but please come back sometime soon!

best regards

Aloha, Ryan & Jen,

Though I haven't listened to your final podcast yet (I haven't had the chance to put it onto my iPod), I'm beginning to think that this is something I should probably listen to at home as opposed to at work, where I usually listen to podcasts. Your podcast has been so enjoyable to listen to and I've referenced you guys so many times in my LiveJournal that I don't know what I'm going to do now!

Like so many others, I won't be cutting off my subscription on iTunes, just in case you decide to make a comeback. Just don't make it one like DriveShaft and start advertising diapers! ;)

Mahalo for all your hard work and all you've done to help us Lost fans work through our theories. You'll be missed!

I am sad. I looked forward to listening to The Transmission after every Lost episode. I know there are other Lost podcasts, but there was something "special" about yours. Maybe it's just because you two seem like such great people--listening to The Transmission was kind of like getting together with friends over a cup of coffee on Thursday morning to talk about the previous night's episode. Well, I wish I had said this before, but thank you so much for The Transmission. I know it must have taken a huge amount of time to put the episodes together, and I hope you know how much it was appreciated. I wish you both the very best of everything in the future, and hope to run into you somewhere around the Lost universe.

What a shame! :(

I started listening to this show just recently during the 3 week long pause in Season 2. I liked The Transmission so much! I've learnt about a lot of interesting theories and kind of got to know you guys too. I will miss your podcast very much.

I wish you joy and success for the future! Take care!

What??? This is sad news =( You guys were THE best Lost podcast going. Thank you for all of your time and effort. Sorry but this is just so sudden! I just hope that you guys are not quitting because some idiots start to write in saying negative things about the show. Good luck to both of you and perhaps one day the Transmission will return!!

Dear Ryan & Jen,

First and foremost-THANK YOU for a great run! Albeit the news was unexpected, I totally respect your decision--Marriage and Family come first.

My only regret was never calling in with my comments, your observations and enthusiasm for LOST was genuine and contagious. In fact, the reason I continue to watch the series is due largely in part to THE TRANSMISSION. Your program was eagerly awaited by me every Thursday. I played it
on my iPod during a run or have it blasting it out of my office from the sound dock. It was a great time.

From now on when I watch LOST, I'll always say to myself, "I wonder what Ryan & Jen are thinking about this episode?"

Thank for all the sweat you both put into this, I can only imagine how you manage podcasting THE TRANSMISSION this long, plus raising kids and dealing with real life. From a fan's perspective it was a blast!

I can only hope to see you both on a flashback sequence of a future LOST episode??? ABC owes you one for enriching our viewing experience.

Blessings to you both and your family.

Talk about a show that will be missed - you two really were the beginning of a huge thing here in the Lost community. I started listening to the 'cast not long after a recent trip to Hawaii ironically. Hope to see you pop up on the boards and do some guest hosting on some other shows, ok??

I am genuinely saddened by the end of your run. I have never called in to the show and this is my first post to your board. I have connected to your show as much or even more than LOST the show. I will miss not listening to your well-produced podcast.

I'm still hoping that you just need to change your mind about this whole stopping thing. For now I'm lost in a different way. How do I disconnect from your show and pick up another. How can any other show live up to the ordered, smooth-going nature of your show.

It will take time, I know. I miss you guys already.

I just wanted to add my two cents to the ever growing list of comments by the your loyal listeners.

Ryan and Jen, I think you two have always done a superb job and have raised the bar for podcasts. All the work you both put in to creating weekly shows is amazing and very much appreciated. I am happy to say that The Transmission was the very first podcast I listened to on my iPod and it remains one of the best, well produced, well researched podcast out there. Thank you both for your dedication, enthusiasim and most of all allowing us all to join you in this wild ride we call Lost.

I wish you both all the luck in the future. Aloha!!

Oh man, Ryan and Jen you'll truly be missed! I only called in once, but I was a faithful listener and really loved the show. I guess I'll have to go out and find another Lost podcast to listen to, but I know nothing else will compare. Best of luck with everything in the future, and I'll remain hopeful that one day in the not-too-distant future you'll make a return to the podcasting world.

With saddness over your leaving, but happiness knowing that this is what's best for you guys - Aloha!

The Transmission was the best Lost Podcast out there and we will miss it very much. MAHALO NUI for the hard work, time and energy you put into. You did a great job introducing my to the world of Podcasting and Lost Fan groups out there. It all started with the HawaiiUp Podcast, then this then ... I owe my new found interests to you, Thanks.

Good luck in the future and know that we are always here and ready if you find the time to expound your knowledge and theories to us again.

Ryan and Jen,
Thank you so much for bringing me into the world of podcasts and for your unique perspectives on the show. I will truly miss you guys very much.

I was listening to your comments on the Fire+Water edition of The Transmission, and got very anxious when you had mentioned that you were considering shortening the length of the show. Now that you have instead decided to end The Transmission, my anxiety levels are at an all time high. :)

Seriously, though, like other bloggers have mentioned, your show was terrific. Your aloha spirit really transmitted well, and has encouraged me to research a trip to Hawaii. If and when that comes to fruition, you guys (and Lost) will be in on my mind for much of the trip.

Hopefully you will send audio file feedback to other Lost podcasts so we can continue to get snippets of your Lost input.

Good luck with your future endeavors, and thank you so much for enriching so many lives!

Ryan & Jen,
Man I cannot believe this is coming to an end. Who would of thought how BIG this would get. I wish you would explain further the reason for shutting down. To me it seemed that it was just too time consuming for a "hobby" especially for being parents. I bet that your show would of grown even faster had things been different continued.

One thing about Podcasting, it seems that growth isn't always better. Smaller shows are more intimate to the listener and far more pleasant for the Podder. Ryan you always gave so much credit to Jen, but I'd like to thank you for putting out such an incredibly professional show. Your quality is "No Ka Oi" in the podcast community!! Now go relax and spend time with your family!

Aloha,

I'm Lost without "The Transmission"

I can’t tell you how disappointed I am to hear of the demise of “The Transmission”. I just put in a vote at podcastalley raving about the show and I was blindsided by your announcement.

Obviously you have made your decision so let me share a thought or two. I’m not sure if you two know how good The Transmission is. All of your efforts in preparation and production quality really come across in what I believe to be one of the best overall podcasts available.

I don’t participate in the forums so I will leave you with this. Thanks! Thanks for the work and effort. I really enjoyed The Transmission. Your passion for the show and attention to detail enhanced my viewing enjoyment immensely. Your personalities and delivery were always very friendly to the point where I feel like I know you both.

While you do not know me, I will always consider you my friends in Hawaii.

Aloha.

I just left a message elsewhere and then checked the update to see this. I'm so sad to hear this -- you have the best podcast I've heard so far and so enjoyable. You both have such warmth and personality, I'm sure whatever happens next for you both will bring you both happiness, I'm so sad I missed this podcast from the beginning.

Best to you both...and I'm missing you already.

Best,

I just started listening, I'll have to go back and listen to your other pods.

Well I guess it had to happen, wise move I guess.

I just wanted to say thanks for the best pod casts I've ever had the honor to be played on my PC.

Good luck to both of you, I mean that.

No!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Our whole family (2 adults, 4 kids) listens to and loves your podcast. You've done a wonderful job with it. Please consider somehow continuing in some capacity, or at least choose someone else to "carry the torch" and continue the high standard you've set.

Anyway, we certainly understand your needing to get out from under the "obligation" of doing the podcast. It would sure be great if you could make a living doing the podcast, but certainly the rest of life is important, too. :-)

Thank you for your true labor of love and gift of an excellent podcast. Be blessed!

Ryan and Jen,
Thank you both so much for doing The Transmission. I can't tell you how much i will miss listening to this podcast weekly. As big of a LOST fan as I am, you guys were the first and only LOST podcast I listened to. I have been a frequent listener since episode one and cannot stress how much I will miss your podcast. It has been so much fun and I will miss you both.

See you in another life,

What a drag! You guys added a lot to an already great show. You were inspiring as a couple as it seemed like you were having fun with each other. I loved your theories and lively discussions. You will be a missed part of my week.

Good luck in your after-transmission-lives.

OK... here I was updating my iTunes Podcast subscriptions and I see an early Transmission podcasts called "Aloha." What's up with that? Wow! You guys are suddenly leaving before the season ends? Gees... The Transmission was the first and only LOST podcast I regularly listened to, and only recently added the ABC podcast to my lineup.

I have to tell you I enjoyed every podcast of THE TRANSMISSION because you folks caught a lot of stuff in each episode that I did not catch the first time or was not aware of. Plus all the people who sent clips in also helped. Now what am I gonna do? I guess peruse the regular message boards or find another LOSTcast...

That all said, the biggest draw of THE TRANSMISSION for me is the fact that it was locally produced and of course an offshoot of HawaiiUP which I hope you folks will continue even if on a periodical basis. I am sure all the LOST fans who listen are shocked at this, but then I am sure you both have a good reason for discontinuing.

The good thing is that I have every episode of THE TRANSMISSION saved so that when the SEASON 2 DVDs come out, I can review them as I watch episodes 1 - 12 all over again at some future date. So in that respect THE TRANSMISSION will still be relevant and come in handy for review purposes.

Good luck and hear you folks on HAWAII UP. Aloha,

Thank you. Miss you. All that's being said 80+ times above, plus all the fans that didn't post but feel the same... But WHY? If it's time constraints, we would love your podcast just the same if it comes out on Sunday nights (you REALLY didn't have to kill yourselves getting it out Thursday mornings). If it's financial, post a Paypal donation button and we'll all help out. If it's personal, we won't ask anymore, but surely would have appreciated a little more warning ahead of time.

Ryan & Jen,

I have to join everyone with saying a huge THANKS for producing The Transmission. I only discovered your show 2 episodes ago and was instantly hooked! You both have done a terrific job.

im haveing the week from hell. my dad loses his job lost is a rerun and we will be with out you 2 the greatest lost podcast on the net. maybe you two can add some things to jay and jacks podcast. Well sorry to hear about your shows loss. i was hoping to hear you two had joined podshow and were able to leave your day jobs.
good luck with all that you do and my it be a morning star that shines opon you.
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

I am with everyone above in being so sad about the ending of the transmission I cannot even put it into words. I haven't listened to the podcast yet. It's downloading as I write this. But since this isn't Thursday, I assumed it wasn't good news.

I hope that everything is ok. When last I read, Ryan wasn't feeling well. My thoughts are with you. If you ever decide to get back into The Transmission, I will be ready to listen.

You and your show will be greatly missed as we all "get Lost" each week. But you deserve praise for putting your family first, and not forcing them to sacrifice just to satisfy our addiction. :-) I look forward to hearing from you somewhere out there in cyberspace.

ryan, jen, thank you both so much for your wonderful podcast. i first got into the transmission just as season two of Lost was beginning and every week i would download your show, put it onto my mp3 player and listen to it on the bus into work. it's funny but i looked forward to your show just as much as i did to a new episode of lost. it's a very real shame that the transmission is coming to a close so soon, but i loved it while it lasted. i hope everything is going good for you guys. i'll miss hearing you each week.

This news is terrible. My favorite podcast is going away. Thanks for all the hard work and the entertainment you provided. As it is said, all good things must come to an end. It's just sad that you couldn't end whenever the show does. Once again, thanks for everything.

Ryan and Jen-
Thank you, thank you, thank you for the great podcast. Although i'm sorry to see it go, i know it helps to know that your listeners are behind you all the way. Please know that we won't be mad! One day I was stumbling through the top podcasts and i saw yours. Whatever it was that made me give it a click, i don't know. But man am i thankful for it. You have helped me so much with Lost and have really provoked a lot of my thoughts about the show. I think because of you i got so addicted to Lost. And i'm glad too. It's been great listening to you, and i've loved listening to you. I think that not only myself, but many of your listeners would love to see a picture of our favorite podcasters posted on your site. It would be awesome to see the faces and the family behind the magic of The Transmission. Again, Thank you. And i can't express it in words, but i just want you to know that myself and all your listeners are truly glad that we had the transmission, no matter how much we hate to see it go.
Always with you-

You guys are so killer for having done your podcast for as long as you did. Every time I would listen, I would think about how much time you both must put into it. You both were so great to listen to and I'm so appreciative for the podcasts that I got to listen to.

Hey guys. I just learned the morbid news. I loved your show so much and I am devestated that it is over. I would watch the newest episode of "Lost" and just think of all the great stuff you would talk about in the next transmission and the next day I would listen to it as soon as I could. The show tought me many of the therois and inside tid-bits hidden throughout the episode.

But, I am not angry at you at all. I understand that it has to stop and I respect you for balancing the show with real life. I congratulate you guys for getting one of the top spots on Itunes and I hope that...somehow...maybe you will occasionally put out an podcast or something

I, and thousands of other fans, will miss you dearly

Mahalo and thank you so much

Ryan & Jen-

I was very sadden to hear the news this morning. I always looked forward to starting my Lost-podcast week with The Transmission!

You were my very first downloaded podcast, I have listened to you guys from the beginning. Regrettably, I never sent an email or phoned in a theory :(

I totally understand your decision, I can't imagine how much time it takes to create such a kick-ass podcast as The Transmission. I hope to hear from you both on Lostcasts, Jay & Jack and/or Scott & Steve....

I will truly miss The Transmission, it was fantastic!

Good Luck and best wishes in all your future endeavors.

Ryan and Jen,

Like you, I listen to just about every Lostcast out there. But yours was The One. I've listened to every single show from the beginning. As much as I love Lost, a big part of experiencing the show is now gone. You made a grown man well up.

You two (and the three little ones) deserve the very best. Thank you so very much for all you've given us.

God bless,
Thom
