  Play

The episode of “The Transmission” follows the Jan. 18 episode, “The Hunting Party.” Jack, Locke and Sawyer pursue a determined Michael after he heads into the jungle toward the dreaded “Others” in search of Walt. Meanwhile, Sun has a surprising reaction to Jin’s desire to join the search party, and Hurley and Charlie commiserate over the age-old conundrum of “what women want.” Sawyer’s alias is challenged, Alvar Hanso is quoted, and Jack prepares to go to war. Alex? Zeke? Geronimo Jackson? Lots of names, lots of possibilities.  Got comments?

    Ryan&Jen,
You have such an awesome podcast. I wanted to put this link out there with you guys, it’s a flash movie about lost to Weird Al’s version of Bohemien Rhapsody, and it’s super funny.

    Have fun everyone.

    Hi Ryan and Jen-

I don’t know if anyone said this yet, but one of my thoughts after watching “The Hunting Party” was that it seems since season 2 and the discovery of the hatch, no one cares about getting off the island anymore. During the confrontation with Zeke, I kept expecting Jack to ask where they were and how they could leave, but he never did.

Especially when Zeke kept talking about how this was THEIR island and that the only reason the survivors were allowed on it was because he let them, why didn’t Jack retort with something like, “Well, we never chose to get on this island” and etc.

Anyway, that just seemed odd to me so I thought I’d mention it. You two are doing a great job with the podcast and I can’t wait till the next one.

P.S. Evangeline Lilly is the first actress I know to share my name… Makes me feel a special connection to Lost. 🙂

  3. Leigh says:

I THINK “ZEKE” IS JACK IN THE FUTURE!

Something about ZEKE is very familiar. And they kept focusing on his face. His hair and beard almost looked fake. Like a costume. I think he’s actually JACK’s twin or mirror-image?

I don’t know why but I do think ZEKE is Jack. Even his style of speaking and his movements were like Jack.

And when Sawyer said “It ain’t over between us”, Zeke had a profound look as though it reminded him of a painful memory in the past (a past we haven’t seen yet) … perhaps between him and Kate?

  4. Leigh says:

    ZEKE = JACK

One more point…there could be some connection here…

Desmond was with Calvin in the hatch…
and Calvin MIGHT be the ‘boat man’…
and one theory is that Desmond MIGHT have been with Jack’s wife…

i don’t know where else to take this idea but it could lead to some very interesting story-lines!

  5. Leigh says:

Regarding the Tattoos… I think ZEKE has a Tattoo in the middle of his collar bone / lower-neck.

  6. Bryan says:

Im not one to say there should be editing of people’s opinions, but boggle’s post here is just hateful. If people want to theorize about purgatory, let them. Why does it bother you? That is part of the fun for people, let them say what they want. Leave the hate off this board. Go to some of the other boards where people make a hobby out of being mean and spiteful.

Anyway, I think perhaps a solution to the criticism that the podcast is too long could be solved simply by editing some of the Lostline calls. I usually skip this section beacuse I think the people tend to ramble on and repeat themselves too much. Perhaps just leaving in their introduction and main point would help solve the problem while leaving in all the good content that you guys provide.

Lastly, I think it will be interesting to find out if Sarah is seeing someone that is connected with the group. In trying to think who it could be, don’t assume that the person she is seeing is male.

I really like the detailed recap at the beginning of your podcasts! Its very useful! And an episode was missed, it comes in very handy!! I also like the way the different show segments are listed for each episode. This way if one doesn’t want to listen to the recap, it can easily be skipped! Keep up the good work!!!

  8. Gracie's Mom says:

Leigh mentioned Calvin…and I was thinking. Didn’t Desmond say that Calvin died? Well…if the hatch was sealed shut…where is Calvin’s body? What did Desmond do with it?…if he is actually dead. Wouldn’t the hatch STINK to high heaven by now? I’m just sayin’

  9. Jay says:

Hello from Massachusetts. I was just looking into the name Sawyer gave Mr. Friendly (Zeke) and I came upon an interesting find. I’m not sure if anyone has mentioned this yet but I was looking at a picture of M.C. Gainey from the movie “The Country Bears” and he was a rodaie from that movie and the name Zeke was on the tour bus. Take a look at the link /www.allmoviephoto.com/photo/2002_the_country_bears_004.html I think the name Sawyer gave him was just a reference to that movie. Anyway, just a thought. What do you guys think? Keep up the good work.

  10. Mark says:

I enjoy the podcast! Thanks for doing it. It’s fun to listen to!

I happened to be doing some surfing and I came across something called a “Pooka” out of Irish mythology. It’s a shape changer that can appear in a variety of forms including… a black horse (like what Kate saw). Just thought it was interesting.

Since the black cloud could show Mr. Eko his memories of his past, could it also “shape shift” into the form of a black horse (or a polar bear or a dead father) based on someone’s memory?

Going even further, could it be harnessed to send a message? Has Walt figured out a way to communicate by forming the black cloud into a representation of himself? His harnessing of the power isn’t quite perfect because it can only be done briefly and his words get reversed.

    Just some more crazy theories!

  11. Gracie's Mom says:

Wow…Jay…very interesting find. I checked out the link…that would be bizarre if they went to that great of a length for detail…but I wouldn’t put anything past this show!

What do you think is up with Zeke/Mr.Friendly’s face…something has been done to it..is it a face beard? fake cheeks…it’s something. Something stands out when you look at him.

Now that I see a picture of M.C. Gainey without the beard…I’m not sure that I think the same actor played Doctorial Candidate Gerald Degroot…compare M.C.Gainey’s picture from your post to this…scroll down until you find him http://www.losthatch.com/episode_facts.aspx?eid=32 Doesn’t look like the same guy to me..I used to think so…but not so much anymore.

  12. Walter says:

Oh DUH!!! Just checking in on the postings on Sledgeweb and someone made at that word on the Geronimo Jackson cover as MAGNA – not MAUNA. That’s what I get for looking too closely at something. So the most likely title of the record is MAGNA CARTA. Which is interesting in the context of Lost for sure. Here’s a brief intro on the significance of the Magna Carta from the Wikipedia.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magna_carta

“Magna Carta (Latin for “Great Charter”, literally “Great Paper”), also known as Magna Carta Libertatum, is an English 1215 charter which limited the power of English Monarchs, specifically King John, from absolute rule. Magna Carta was the result of disagreements between the Pope and King John and his barons over the rights of the king: Magna Carta required the king to renounce certain rights and respect certain legal procedures, and to accept that the will of the king could be bound by law. Magna Carta is widely considered to be the first step in a long historical process leading to the rule of constitutional law.”

And I was a history major. Boy do I feel dumb for fluffing this one!

  13. Ken says:

Let me start out by saying Wow, your podcast is incredible, and I love you for doing it every week to satiate the rabid fans like myself.

I just read that the shows creators have stated that by the end of Season 2, time on the island will have passed about 90 days… being that it’s only day 50 as of “The Hunting Party”, then i’m guessing that things will have to ramp up rather quickly… How do you think they will pass that time and still fill in all the blanks we are looking for?

again, AMAZING SHOW please keep up the good work, and I hope you feel better! PEACE

  14. Jesse says:

Hello you guys. I like the show but I thought I should tell you this: I haven’t been able to listen to the past couple shows because the downloads aren’t working for each podcast (the reason I’ve come to this site now). I subscribe though iTunes and everytime I update your podcast it will start downloading and then about a year goes by and its still not finished and then times out. I just thought I should let you know of this (and maybe it’s just my computer that is the problem) but every other podcast I subscribe to gives me no trouble. Anyway, I’d say keep up the good work but I haven’t heard a show of yours in a while so I don’t know if you’ve been doing good work, but if you have then keep it up and if you haven’t then start doing good work because I will be listening, someday.

  15. Pius Jade says:

    Hi Ryan and Jenn,

By far you two make what is already an excellent show, even better with your podcasts and follow ups. I love listening to tidbits and when you guys can recognize what parts of beautiful hawaii theyve shot an episode, and the spoilers you guys have for all of us.

I think that following its occasional religious theme dropping that when Jacks father Christian says its okay for some people to cross that line , but not you, that he is sort of like a Jesus Christ figure perhaps? And the preview for next weeks new ep looks like it plays into some of Moses’ story… Aaron was the younger brother of Moses and a familiar crib in water image is very familiar and keen to what much I can remember from Sunday school…

As has been mentioned when Jack talked to Zeke saying you sent a spy into our group, I agree and I think Zeke looked at him like he was caught. However Jack then said, we knew Ethan was a spy, then Zeke makes a relieved (hah we still have someone in your camp spying cocky) smile, and I think its Libby, just the way shes acted to Ana Lucia, the lack of a backstory for her??? the way she dresses…

The last thing I wanted to mention was my crazy theory and what I thinks going on… I think the monster which killed the pilot and chased charlie, kate, and jack, is get this… actually protecting the survivors, hence why it has not really killed anyone, and also the fuseys didnt go through quite the ordeal the tailies did their first 48 days… When Russo kidnapped Aaron, she mentioned the black smoke and Charlie then in turn snapped saying she made the black smoke herself… but I know this sounds way off, but different, I think she made the black smoke to protect Aaron from the others ( the others never show up when the monster does ) so just a guess and something different … thanks ryan and jenn, get better and hear from ou guys soon.

  16. Pius Jade says:

im sorry that my first post accidently got posted before i finished… oh, I am absolutely a faithful follower of the show, both the show show and your podcast. Some people , me included thought the first half of season 2 prior to the 23rd psalm was slow and I agree with that, but the show lost JJ Abrams to Mission Impossible for however many months, and it showed… He said he was having withdrawals (hehe) when he was away, hence the slow first half and also the 6 week hiatus… well now mission impossible is done with (i think? post production maybe?) but its no coincidence the shows started picking up again now that JJ Abrams is back with the crew.

  17. New to your podcast, will be a avid listener in the future.Hunting party:
When ZEKE tells JACK ” you only live here because we allow it” (or something close to it) Why doesn’t jack say” help us get off and we’ll leave you alone?” Also: Zeke asks ” how long have you been on the island?”
I thought he would know this already, since the others have visited from day 1.

  18. Mr. Meahpares says:

Not sure if this is a Lost implant, but Geronimo Jackson has a website:

    http://www.geronimo-jackson.com/

Note the connection between the band and the DeGroots:

    University Of Michigan

Does anyone know the names of the other bands for the records that were shown? After the Mamas and the Papas were used in the season opener and seeing all the records down in the hatch I’ve been trying to note the titles to as many as possible.

  19. Nancy says:

Doug, I agree. It’s been bugging the hell out of me that Jack didn’t ask Zeke any questions or say, “hey, sorry we ended up on your Island, we’ll be more than happy to get off of it. Who ARE you and why are you on this island! Give us Walt back and we’ll gladly leave you alone.”

It seems like since the raft, no one is talking about being rescued or leaving the island.

  20. Bob says:

Did anyone catch Locke’s facial reaction when Sawyer labelled him “Mr Clean” and explained “all you need is an earring and a mop.” It was a smile. Not much of a smile. But obviously a warm and affectionate response. Almost as if Locke was recognizing (a) Sawyer’s propensity for handing out nicknames , or (b) Sawyer’s reluctance to talk about his past.

I always knew tha Terry O’Quinn could act; I have enjoyed watching him since the early 1990s.

But, just pointing out that the *reaction* shots ( from the actors who are *not* delivering the dialogue ) are often priceless and enjoyable. These people are called actors for a reason. The audience can find enjoyment in the smallest of things about this show.
