HiUP #39 – Haiku Crooner

A summer of family fun, computer classes, and a dead drive kept me pretty busy, but the break just might bring a second wind. Lots of news to cover, from Frank Fasi to Hurricane Daniel, from growing plants to shrinking home sales. Jen chimes in with a heaping spoonful of tube talk, and two songs from a new featured artist are sure to please. Provided I’ve remembered how to do this, enjoy!

Count me in as a “Psych” fan. The show does require far more suspension of belief than other shows, but the chemistry between Dule Hill and James Roday is wonderful. The “Psychouts” at the end of the show are invaluable! I’m not that much of a fan of Tim Omundson, though (Det. Lassiter). Either the writers need to add more dimension to the character, or Omundson needs to add something because he’s flat as a fall guy. Kirsten Nelson was the Young Mrs. Landingham on “The West Wing”, and I always liked her after that. Nice to see her as a regular on a show. “Eureka” on the Sci-Fi channel has a bit of the same tone as “Psych” — not as heavily comedic but certainly quirky enough. Is “The Closer” on your TiVo?

I was so going to write in about Kristen Nelson guesting on The West Wing. Great minds think alike. I really like Psych and I am a huge West Wing fan.

I love that The Closer. Its really great. It is a lot of fun.

Great to have another podcast from you guys. I’ve missed hearing your voices.

  4. hurrah!! i was thrilled to see iTunes downloading anew episode this weekend, and almost didn’t believe it was going to b a new show. welcome back! save this show for my walk this afternoon — i needed motivation to do two mile in 95 degree heat and 4,029% humidity (never mind the killer hill). thanks for the survival help.

btw, i have listened to episode #35, i finally had to give in and buy cds from Darin Leong, Pete Kilburn, and the Slack Key Guitar vol. 2. no substitute for you and all the news, but it did calm the withdrawal shakes. 😉

looks like i’m going to have to set the tivo for psych — it’s so overloaded already, i was hesitating, but you and Jen have convinced me.

can’t wait to hear from you again,

    Kelly

  5. Thanks for the dedication! I feel honored. Our Katie is doing very well, and loves to keep us up at night. Her mother is taking her on her first plane trip this Thursday. They’re going up to Illinois to visit the great-grandparents. I’ll have the entire weekend to attempt cleaning the house.

There are plenty of pictures if anyone wants to take a peek!

    Welcome back.

  9. Thank Jen for recommending Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations. I really like it. I hear tomorrow’s episode was filmed in Beirut, and they got caught up in that little war. Should be interesting.
